Missing Alzheimer’s Man Found In Ohio River

A 73-year-old Ohio man was found dead in the Ohio River, after slipping on the bank and drowning shortly after.

Wilbur “Randall” Maynard’s home health care nurse discovered him missing at 6:30 a.m. Saturday. Maynard had Alzheimer’s and was closely monitored by his family and nurse in hopes of preventing an accident such as what happened.

Maynard’s son believes he was on his way to go visit his sister when it started raining and he was forced to take shelter. While taking cover, Maynard slipped on the Ohio River bank, losing a shoe and falling into the river.

Stories like this one are heartbreaking to hear. We know eTrak can make a positive difference in many families’ lives and prevent accidents like Maynard’s. Please help us spread the eTrak word so we can bring peace of mind to one family at a time.

eTrak Created with Alzheimer’s in Mind

All too often we hear a story about missing elderly who have wandered from their homes or places of care. Many times this is a result of the person being affected by Alzheimer’s.

Alzheimer’s is a disease which impairs a person’s mind, resulting in a loss of memory, thinking and language skills, and changes in behavior. These people are prone to wander and end up getting lost, subjecting themselves to danger and worrying those who care for them.

eTrak was created with Alzheimer’s patients and their caregivers in mind. John Harris, eTrak CEO, has a family member who is affected by Alzheimer’s and has seen the stress and worry his family has gone through when they have wandered off.

The eTrak device, roughly the size of a domino, can easily be placed in a pocket or hung around the neck of a person. With its advanced location tracking abilities and easy to use interface, we hope that eTrak can give families and caregivers peace of mind.

The Alzheimer’s Association is a great organization that aims to provide care and support for those affected by the Alzheimer’s disease. At eTrak we can only hope to eliminate the sad stories of those who wandered off and were never found.

Much time and effort was put into the development of the eTrak device. It’s not easy to pack the industry-leading GPS technology that eTrak boasts into a device the size of a domino. But rather than go through complicated diagrams and spread sheets, we’re happy to share this video with you! This 70-second video captures why eTrak was developed, who eTrak is for, and how eTrak works.

Parenting and caring for our elders are the two primary reasons the eTrak device was developed. With that, the Autism and Alzheimer’s communities hold a very special place in the hearts of the eTrak development team. So it became necessary to develop a device that was smaller, was more accurate, and could last longer than any other device available today. That device is eTrak!
